A UEFA Cup winner with Feyenoord, The Loovenator has since established himself as a rock at the heart of City's back-line
A UEFA Cup winner with Feyenoord in 2002, Loovens failed to build on his early promise and joined Cardiff, initially on loan, for the 2005/06 season.
A tall, imposing, determined and composed centre-half, his performances impressed Dave Jones, who made the move permanent the following summer for a fee in the region of £250,000.
Since then, Loovens has established himself at the heart of the Bluebirds’ defence alongside Roger Johnson and at the expense of Darren Purse, making the fee look a snip.
Nicknamed ‘The Loovenator’, he made his 100th appearance for the club, against Hull City, during the 2007/08 season.
