An old hand at this professional football lark, Naysmith has played over 300 games to date, Naysmith's experience is key for the Blades
Making his professional debut as a 17-year-old with Hearts, Naysmith soon established himself as first-choice left-back and was named Scottish Young Player of the Year following the club’s Scottish Cup success in 1998.
A committed, skilful defender with a good engine and eye for the spectacular, he looked set to join Coventry in October 2000 before Walter Smith’s late £1.7m bid took him to Everton. He became a regular under Smith, then David Moyes, and fought back from a serious ankle injury in 2005 to win a new contract.
When Phil Jagielka moved to Goodison from Sheffield United in July 2007, Naysmith went in the opposite direction and quickly became a regular again.
