Defender

King Kev has described Coloccini as 'his kind of defender', which we are assured is nothing to do with his heaving 70's style perm

Newcastle completed the signing of Argentine international Fabricio Coloccini in the August of 2008. The defender, who sports a massive mane of blonde curls, joined the Tyneside club from Deportivo de La Coruna for a deal in the region of £10 million.

The Spanish club were reluctant to let Coloccini leave after four successful seasons there, but the player was keen to move on. Coloccini, who won an Olympic gold medal with Argentina in 2004, should find his strength and speed suited to the high tempo and physical nature of the Premier League.

Not the quickest but looks as is if he will be a rarity - a reliable Newcastle defender.

very good defender. he is needed to strengthen newcastles weak defence. He will work very well with Steve taylor and they will hopefully keep some clean sheets in front of Given
