He may not be the biggest, but Insua has the pace and bite to be a real nuisance to opposing wingers...
Standing at just 5ft8, Insua is one of the shortest players in the Premier League – but he hasn’t let his lack of height stand in the way of building a massive promising career.
Born in Buenos Aires, Insua played for iconic local side Boca Juniors as an youngster, although before he was able to make his senior bow in the famous blue and yellow, he was snapped up by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez – moving to Anfield on an initial loan deal around the time of his eighteenth birthday.
Initially he first team opportunities were limited, with the Argentine fullback only playing in five Premier League games in his first eighteen months in England, but his patience finally paid off during the 2008/09 season, during which he was able to spend an extended run in the side thanks to injury to Fabio Aurelio and the poor form of Andrea Dossena.
A solid start to the 2009/10 season saw Insua earn his first senior cap for the Argentine national side in a crucial 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory over Peru in October 2009.
