Zokora really hasn't been the midfield enforcer Spurs fans were hoping and preying for, but he tries, bless him. Just don't ask him to shoot...
The former St Etienne player signed in 2006 for £8.6m and immediately made himself popular with fans by claiming to have chosen Spurs over Arsenal.
While the Gunners interest was never confirmed, Zokora’s initial displays – combining destructive midfield play with a lightning-quick breaks from deep in his own half – highlighted why a number of clubs had expressed an interest in the Ivory Coast international, a star of the 2006 World Cup.
Since then, however, Zokora has too often shown himself to be lax in possession and reckless in the tackle, but as Tottenham’s only genuine defensive midfielder, he’s a valuable asset to the squad.
