Attack minded box-to-box midfielder, the complete player? Hull's record signing when he joined the club in 2006
This England U21 international became Hull’s record signing when he moved from Tottenham – a club he had joined as a nine-year-old – for £900,000 in July 2006.
Described in January 2005 by Spurs’ Dutch manager Martin Jol as “the complete player”, he nonetheless struggled to establish himself at White Hart Lane and was loaned to Swindon, QPR, Gillingham and Norwich before his big-money switch to the KC Stadium.
A box-to-box midfielder who likes to push forward and support his attack, he scored six goals in 41 League appearances as Tigers won promotion in 2007/08.
