After scoring the goal that sealed the League Two title for Walsall in 2007, he nailed the promotion winning goal for the Posh a year later
The pocket-sized midfielder was a huge presence at London Road during the 2007/08 season after arriving at the club from newly-promoted Walsall at the tailend of the previous season.
Keates began his career with the Saddlers before heading to Hull in 2002. Further spells at Kidderminster and Lincoln followed before Keates re-signed at the Bank’s Stadium in January 2006.
Keates was snapped up by Ferguson in a double deal involving Westwood and has provided a cool head in the Peterborough midfield since making his Posh debut against Rochdale in August 2007.
