The former Deportivo La Coruna striker made an immediate impact as one of the SPL’s most skilled and entertaining playmakers when he arrived in Scotland at Livingston in 2001, but the £1m step-up to Celtic proved too much for him and he rarely featured.
Fernandez signed for Killie from Dundee United in June 2006, but his debut season was wiped out by a cruciate ligament injury.
It has taken him a while to return to something near his dynamic top form, but on his day Fernandez is still one of the most gifted ball-players in the country, and gives Killie a wealth of extra dimensions in attack.
