Signed from Liverpool in the summer of 2008, Guthrie will hope to make more of an impact at St James' than he did at Anfield
Danny Guthrie signed for Newcastle United in July 2008, hopefully having found a club to end his travels.
Midfielder Guthrie was released from Manchester United aged just 15, before signing for arch-rivals Liverpool. Guthrie spent a number of years at Anfield, but failed to break into the first team. However, Guthrie enjoyed a particularly successful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers during the 2007/2008 season, before moving to Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle at the end of the season.
The Shrewsbury-born youngster made his competitive debut for the Tyneside club in an impressive 1-1 draw with Manchester United, leading his manager, Keegan, to describe Guthrie as his man of the match.
