Local lad made good – and wants to make better, preferably with his beloved Latics, even though higher-level northern clubs are circling
Oldham-born and a lifelong Latics fan, Taylor fulfilled a dream when he signed professional forms with the club aged 18 at the start of the 2005/06 season.
He has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in League One since making his full debut for Oldham in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the 2005/06 season. That term he made just over a dozen appearances; the following season, he topped 50 and his form brought covetous glances from a number of top clubs – spurring Oldham into offering him a new three-year deal in April 2007.
Taylor’s livewire and cultured displays in the Latics midfield have seen the six-foot winger provide an invaluable and regular source of goals under Sheridan; Doncaster and Blackpool are said to have ben rebuffed with offers approaching £500,000 for his services. The homegrown youngster will be aiming to play at a higher level in the near future. Latics’ fans will be hoping it's in the blue of Oldham.
