Chris Powell has been in football for nearly two decades since making his professional debut with Crystal Palace way back in 1987/1988
After failing to hold down a regular first team spot at first club Crystal Palace, Powell moved to Aldershot on loan, and then to Southend United permanently where he played over 250 times, becoming a club legend and voted their all time cult hero in 2004.
He moved to Derby County in 1996 and again once again became an integral part of the side, going on to make over a hundred appearances for the Rams. He then went on to make nearly 300 appearances for Charlton Athletic in three separate spells, spending time at West Ham and Watford in between.
He received his first of five England Caps in 2001 under Sven Goran Eriksson in the Swede’s first match as manager, at Villa Park against Spain.
After leaving Charlton for a third time in the summer of 2008 for League One new boys Leicester City, Powell will hope that perhaps his last foray into league football will end in promotion.
