A seasoned campainger, Morgan has more experience of second tier football than most, having played there for 8 of his 11 seasons
When an on-field contretemps with Wigan’s Lee McCulloch left Chris Morgan sporting two black eyes, the teak-tough Barnsley-born centre-back simply called it “part and parcel of the game”.
Uncompromising, uncomplaining and fully committed – no Blade in history has seen more red cards – Morgan is widely admired by both his own fans and others who think the game’s gone soft.
He started with his hometown club in 1996, enjoying a season in the top flight before moving to Bramall Lane in July 2003; soon named the club’s Player Of The Year, he formed a good understanding with Robert Page and became captain as the Blades hit the top flight in 2006.
