After a brief hiatus, McCready returned to Crewe in 2007 and helped them stay up in 2008
Flexibility is one attribute that Chester-born defender McCready has in abundance as he is capable of playing anywhere across the back four.
Brought up at the club’s famed centre of excellence under the guidance of Dario Gradi, McCready graduated to make his first team debut for the Alex in 2001 away to Millwall.
However, between 2002 and 2006 the versatile marker found it hard to nail down a regular place, so at the start of the 2006/07 campaign he made a surprise switch to nearby Tranmere Rovers where he was a virtual ever present.
The defender opted to return to Gresty Road after just one season and has featured a lot more regularly since.
