Versatile Irishman, can be used almost anywhere when called upon. Generally used as a substitute at Burnley - ugly
A product of Dublin club Home Farm, McCann progressed through the youth ranks at Burnley and made his debut as a substitute against Coventry City in August 2005.
A tall, leggy midfielder with a deft left foot and a powerful shot, McCann quickly established himself at the heart of midfield, only to lose his place during the 2006-07 season.
Injuries to key players then highlighted the Irishman’s versatility, and he performed as an emergency centre-back and left-back, as well as across the midfield. Season 2007-08 was more productive and he has signed a contract that ties him to the club until 2010.
