Frill-free Geordie who went from Black Cat to Tyke before bringing his brand of determined midfield work to Cumbria
Lumsdon was born in Newcastle but began his professional career with local rivals Sunderland in 1997, making four first-team appearances for the Black Cats. During his time at the Stadium of Light, the tough-tackling midfielder also had loan spells with Blackpool, Crewe and Barnsley before signing for the Tykes in December 2001 in a £350,000 deal.
Lumsdon enjoyed two full seasons at Oakwell before the Blues came in for him and he moved to Brunton Park on a free transfer in the summer of 2004. Under contract until 2009, he is a no-frills player who gets the job done.
