The Italian is somewhat of a serial bargain, having moved to Chelsea for £160k before joining Spurs on a free in 2009
The son of legendary former AC Milan goalkeeper, Fabio Cudicini, Carlo began his own career at Milan but failed to make the first-team and, after just one appearance for Lazio, he was turning out for Castel di Sangro in Serie B when Chelsea swooped with a £160,000 offer.
Before the arrival of Czech super-stopper Petr Cech in 2004, the Italian’s supreme reflexes and cat-like dexterity had earned him Chelsea’s fans’ Player of the Year award in 2002, his second season with the club, and many saw him as one of the Premier League's top stoppers.
Sadly for Cudicini, he was unable to ever win back a regular place once Cech had made the No 1 jersey (and helmet...) his own at Stamford Bridge.
Despite seeming content to act as Cech’s understudy, Cudicini opted to move across London to Tottenham on a free transfer in January 2009, making his debut in a 3-1 win over Stoke at White Hart Lane.
Frustratingly for the Italian he soon lost his first team place again, this time to Brazilian Heurelho Gomes, who ended 2008/09 and started 2009/10 as Harry Redknapp's first choice between the sticks.
