A star at Southport, Baker’s dynamic displays in the first half of 2007/08 helped make Morecambe’s introduction to League football a smooth one
Highly-rated midfielder Baker joined Morecambe on a three-year deal from Southport in July 2007 having swept the board at the Sandgrounders’ Player Of The Year awards, scoring 12 goals from midfield and producing a string of virtuoso displays with his impressive technique, vision and versatility.
Naturally a livewire winger and cool dispatcher of penalties, Baker enjoyed his first season in the Football League making 42 appearances and finding the net 10 times, as well as bagging a goal to help knock Wolves out of the Carling Cup at Molineux in a 3-1 upset.
Joined Stockport County in summer 2008 for a six-figure sum.
