Versatile midfielder who has more than 250 games for Birmingham under his belt. Big impact as a teenager at Wrexham
Previous Premier League experience with Birmingham and Charlton makes Hughes a valuable member of Hull’s squad as they tackle their first ever campaign in the top flight.
The astute midfielder, who is comfortable playing centrally or wide left, burst on to the scene as a teenager with Wrexham, and a goalscoring performance in the Dragons’ 3-1 FA Cup fifth round win over then-Premier League Birmingham earned him a £750,000 move to St Andrews in March 1997.
After more than 250 senior games for Brum, Hughes moved to Charlton in July 2004. He joined Tigers on a free following the Addicks’ relegation in May 2007.
