Australian international helped Dutch side Feyenoord with the Uefa Cup before joining Blackburn Rovers in 2003
Emerton honed his skills at the Australian Institute
of Soccer before joining Dutch giants Feyenoord from home club Sydney Olympic
in 2000.
In his first season he played a key role in the club’s
Uefa Cup triumph, although he was suspended from the final itself against
Borussia Dortmund.
The Aussie was attracting the attentions of a host of
Premier League suitors, before Rovers secured his services in the summer of
2003 for in a deal worth £2.2 million.
Australian international operates down the right
flank, both in defence or midfield, and being from Oz he’s annoyingly athletic and talented.
