When the ball hits the goal, it's not Shearer or Cole... it's Zamora, and he couldn't be happier than doing it for West Ham
The lifelong West Ham fan signed for his boyhood club in 2004 from Tottenham as part of the deal that saw Jermain Defoe move to White Hart Lane.
He was an immediate success at the Boleyn, scoring 13 goals in his first five months, including four in the play-offs and the only goal of the 2005 Championship Play-Off Final win over Preston.
Zamora had actually started his career at West Ham, coming through the same academy that spawned Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand and dozens of others, but he was released at 18 and signed for Bristol Rovers before moving to Brighton in 2000.
It was on the South Coast that he made his name, bagging 76 goals in 125 games for the Seagulls and being hailed as one of the club’s greatest ever players by fans who imaginatively adapted the Dean Martin song That's Amore to acclaim their hero.
Though he has never hit those heights in the Premier League, he is strong, committed and capable of chipping in with goals, but he managed only one in 2007/08 as a knee injury wrecked his season.
