Cheeky scouser has plundered 45 league goals in 226 appearances. He’ll be gunning to improve that record this season
The tall Liverpool-born striker made his name at Port Vale during a six-year spell in the Potteries, making his debut for the club at the age of just 16.
After leaving Vale Park in January 2006, Paynter spent time at both Hull City and Southend before arriving at Swindon in a last minute switch in August 2007.
The livewire striker made an immediate impact, smashing a second half hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Bournemouth and adding a further brace against Gillingham in a 5-0 Swindon mauling.
The goals dried up for Paynter in the second half of the season, however, with red cards against Huddersfield and Crewe limiting his chances of adding to his tally.
