Defender

The man more simply referred to as 'BAE' is the latest in a long line of players that Harry Redknapp has managed to get the best out of

Harry Redknapp is famous for a lot of things, one of which is his ability to get the best out of players lacking in confidence and belief.

One such player is Spurs' Cameroon international left back, who has come on leaps and bounds since Redknapp's arrival in North London back in October 2008.

Having started his career with French club Lens, Assou-Ekotto was initially brought to White Hart Lane by former Spurs Director of Football, Damien Comolli in the summer of 2006. However a few bad performances and a serious knee injury later, Assou-Ekotto's time at Spurs looked all but over.

He finally made a first team return in August 2008, after 18 months on the sidelines, but it wasn't until Redknapp's arrival two months into the campaign that he finally seemed to find his feet.

Having ironed out some of the defensive creases in his game, Assou-Ekotto was able to develop on his strength - attacking from deep.

He then picked up where he had left off at the start of 2009/10, scoring his first career goal in Spurs' opening day win over Liverpool.

Has improved out of sight since Harry's arrival. Put miles between himself and Bale and has the left back spot at Spurs for as long as he wants the way he is playing

Not a terrible player by any means, and he has been struggling with injuries ever since joining. There's no way Chris Hughton could rave so much about a player without him having some sort of ability.
