Herd’s been, literally, a virtual ever-present for the Shrews, missing just one league game in 2005/06 and 2007/08 combined
Experienced full-back Herd joined Town in June 2005 having been released from Watford, who he had joined as a trainee.
A solid performer on the right side of defence, Herd became a regular fixture in the Shrewsbury side for his debut campaign at Gay Meadow, featuring in all 46 league fixtures for the club.
Injuries hampered Herd the following season – although he was a late inclusion in the Shrews’ League Two playoff final at Wembley following an injury to a team-mate in the warm-up – but he was back to becoming a regular in 2007/08, missing just the one league match all season after picking up a suspension for amassing five yellow cards.
