A Frenchman making waves in N5? Will wonders ever cease? Sagna was named in the Premier League's Team of the Season in 2007/08.
Like team-mate Abou Diaby, right-back Sagna joined from Auxerre, signing for £6m in the summer of 2007. With three years’ experience under his belt in the French League, his attacking instincts and athletic frame clearly impressed Arsene Wenger, who pitched him straight into the first-team for the opening game of 2007/08 against Fulham.
His performances since have been of the highest quality; solid in defence, while linking well in an overlapping capacity with right midfielder with Emmanuel Eboue. He was very unlucky to miss out on Euro 2008 through injury, although he is seen as the long-term international replacement for Willy Sagnol.
