Guess what? Yes, that’s right Julian played under Stimson as Stevenage. Gills’ No1 Simon Royce will be looking over his shoulder
Former Northern Ireland under-21 international Julian joined the Gills from Stevenage in May 2008, linking up with former Boro boss Mark Stimson and a clutch of team-mates who had jumped ship to join him at the Priestfield Stadium.
A tall and commanding goalkeeper, Julian began his career at Brentford – making 16 league starts in almost five years with the Bees – before joining Stevenage following a successful trial.
He went on to become the Broadhall Way outfit’s first-choice glove-man for three seasons, appearing on more than 140 occasions for the Conference side, including the 2005 playoff final and 2007 FA Trophy showpiece at Wembley.
