Warranted almost £20m in transfers despite lacking obvious ability. Goalscoring exploits - outside the top flight - cannot be argued with
The much-travelled Nigeria international has amassed transfer fees totalling £16m in a colourful career. He made the breakthrough at Norwich in 1993 but it was during his season and a half at Second Division Gillingham, in 1997-98, that he began to make headlines - his pace, sheer brute strength and aerial power helping him net 29 goals in 68 league and cup games.
Similar impressive spells with Bristol City and Wolves followed before he gained his big break in the Premier League under his former Gillingham boss, Peter Taylor, at Leicester.
Struggling to adjust to the higher level, he was dubbed ‘Ade Panicbuyi’ and ridiculed by Foxes fans dismayed at their team’s dramatic slump. He was then shipped off to Crystal Palace in 2002, where injury wrecked his only season but has since played for Sheffield United and Stoke, and is currently in his second spell at Burnley, where he is a talisman in the Clarets’ attack.
