Striker

A proven goalscorer in non-league with Aldershot and Grays, McLean proved his Football League worth in 2007/08 smashing 33 goals

McLean’s goals have been a driving force behind the success of Posh under Ferguson. The diminutive striker arrived at Peterborough for £150,000 in January 2007, and smashed 33 goals as Posh stormed to promotion the following season. McLean began his career as a trainee at Leyton Orient before leaving Brisbane Road for Aldershot in March 2003.

His form has alerted a host of top clubs, include Wolves, who have already had a bid for the striker turned down by the club’s director of football Barry Fry. They are unlikely to be the last suitor tracking his progress.

To sum him up Pure Quality, Ever running infectious enthusiastiasm, and he scores tonnes of goals. Peterborough turned down a bid from Wolves of around £2million summer 2008 which sums up how highly regarded he is. Mick McCarthy obviously feels he could step up to Cahmpionship level. Strengths, very fast great in the are and increadible workrate, just the kind of striker you want and opposition defences hate. Weaknesses not "a fox in the box" type striker, more likely to put away the difficult chances but miss the tap-ins, has been labelled wastefull at times. He more than makes up for any supposed failings with his never say die attitude, a very good League 1 striker.

Arron Mclean started life out at orient where i saw him as a youngest did not quite make the grade however he was behind Jabo Ibree and left for Adelshot having seen him in a game against queens park rangers in a friendly i was impressed by his sharpness and was not supised to see him finih top scorer in that division for couple of seasons before Peterborough took a chance if he maintains his scoring rate in League 1 he will become a number 1 Target
