Experienced, gifted and back from injury, Ghana's skipper is on the lookout for a new challenge
The combative Ghanaian has been compared with Claude Makelele but he is currently without a club after his three-year stint with Fenerbahçe came to an acrimonious end.
The Black Stars captain has good pedigree; before his far-from-delightful time in Turkey, he spent eight years in Italy where his clubs included Juventus and Parma.
He returned to action for Ghana in October after being out with a knee injury for nearly a year and Arsenal, West Ham, Portsmouth And Chelsea have all been linked with him despite question marks over his fitness.
“It would be a dream to play in the Premiership,” he says. “My confidence is back and, with a few more games, I will be on song.”
