An on-form Kader Keita would trouble Europe's finest full-backs. However, all too often the Ivorian winger falls short
Lyon’s record signing has the ability to produce spectacular performances but all too often flatters to deceive. The Ivory Coast international took a convoluted route to Europe, playing in Tunisia and Qatar before signing for Lille in 2005.
The culture shock was initially too great, but after a lengthy spell in the reserves the right-winger announced himself with a stunning, match-winning performance away to Lyon. Confidence flowing, Keita became one of the country’s most dangerous and entertaining attackers, starring both at home and in the Champions League, where his pace and trickery helped sink AC Milan.
Lyon broke the bank to sign him in 2007, coughing up €18m, but his form has been strangely muted and inconsistent since. Not even the arrival of his old Lille boss Claude Puel has sparked an improvement.
